Health econometrics involves the statistical analysis of health and economic data and is described as the branch of economics that aims to give empirical content to economic relations. Applied to a healthcare setting, econometrics can inform the relationships between healthcare expenditures, cost and resource use, and their determinants.

The RCSI Healthcare Outcome Research Centre (HORC) and the School of Postgraduate Studies will host a three-day masterclass on health econometrics in March 2019.

The masterclass will be delivered by Professor Partha Deb from the Department of Economics, Hunter College, the City University of New York, based on his recent book on Health Econometrics Using Stata, Stata Press, 2017.

During the masterclass other economists will present analyses of Irish datasets.
