RCSI Bahrain announces winner of 2023 Intern Award

The Alumni Office of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain announced and celebrated Dr Danya Alaseeri (Class of 2022) as the winner of the annual ‘Intern Award’ for 2023 for demonstrating distinction in professionalism, communication skills, collaboration and patient management during her one-year internship year at the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH).

When asked about her internship experience, Dr Alaseeri stated, “During my internship at KHUH, I have grown tremendously as a medical professional. With the support of all my colleagues, I have experienced first-hand the importance of being a compassionate and hardworking physician who listens to the needs of each patient. I participated in many procedures in various medical specialties, which enhanced my clinical skills and made me appreciate the responsibilities of my role. I strive to continue learning from my colleagues and being an active member of my professional team. My advice to the graduating seniors is to be open minded to learning from every team you will be a part of and leave a positive mark on the life of every person you meet.”

Professor Alfred Nicholson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of School of Medicine at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain commented, “RCSI Medical University of Bahrain is proud to congratulate Dr Danya Alaseeri for receiving the Intern Award for this year. In attendance of the celebration were, Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Managing Director at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain; Professor Alfred Nicholson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of School of Medicine; Professor Kathryn Strachan, Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery;  Professor Naji Alamuddin, Associate Professor in Medicine and Deputy Head of School of Medicine; Mr Fadi Ghosn, Head of Recognition, Careers and Alumni; Ms Loreen Bahour, Alumni Relations Specialist; and Ms Fatema Frutan, Professional Development Unit Specialist.

The selection of the RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Intern Award winner is based on information received by consultants, residents, co-workers, colleagues, and fellow peers through a Multi-Source Feedback (MSF) evaluation, which is analysed by the University’s Quality Enhancement Office.
