RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences has announced a significant new scholarship programme with Takeda Ireland.

The scholarship, worth €25,000 over four years, will support a student to complete RCSI’s new cutting-edge science degree, the BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies. The BSc curriculum fuses traditional science with digital technology and embeds key ‘power skills’ relevant to future workplace success. The programme is designed to develop the next generation of scientists who will innovate and collaborate to design and develop the medical therapies and technologies of the future.

“We are proud to launch this new scholarship programme with RCSI which aims to support an undergraduate student attending RCSI to realise their potential whilst lessening the financial burden so that they can fully focus on their academic coursework,” said Shane Ryan, General Manager of Takeda Ireland.

“Takeda Ireland has had a presence in Ireland for over 25 years, with a strong commitment to innovation within the Irish health and pharmaceutical landscape. RCSI’s BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies is a brilliant new programme that will create excellent graduates that are needed in the industry.”

Speaking about the new scholarship, Dr Ben Ryan, RCSI Deputy Head of the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences said: “RCSI are delighted to partner with Takeda Ireland in offering a HEAR student a life-changing scholarship. Our new BSc (Advanced Therapeutic Technologies) science degree is a fantastic programme for those who have a strong aptitude for science and maths.

“Students will study subjects as diverse as genetics/genomics, immunology, pharmacology, data analytics, precision medicine, connected health and related technologies. We look forward to welcoming the successful candidate into our next cohort.”
