RCSI confers healthcare leaders of the future at conferring ceremony

Higher Degree Conferring

RCSI conferred more than 170 healthcare professionals with postgraduate awards at a conferring ceremony in the College on Monday, 8 December.

In surgery, these awards include Fellowships of RCSI in General Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Urology. Membership were awarded in ENT and Ophthalmology and Diplomas in Otolaryngology. Fellowship Ad Eundem were awarded to Ehab Helmy Abdel Goad, Alfonso Antequera, Ta Li Liu and Leo Francis Stassen. 

In Dentistry, Fellowships were awarded in Operative & Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery with Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics. Fellowship of the Faculty of Dentistry Ad Eundem was given to Ailbhe McDonald.

Membership of the Faculty of Dentistry and Diplomas of Primary Care Dentistry were also awarded. Also awarded on the day were Fellowships of the Faculty of Radiologists in Radiodiagnosis. The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery awarded Fellowships and the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine distributed Memberships.

Mr Declan J Magee, President of RCSI, said: "I would like to congratulate all of our conferring candidates on their achievements and on reaching this important and exciting stage in their careers and training. For some, this day is an important milestone which places our candidates securely on the training ladder and for others it is a statement of completion to the highest standard of training and rigorous assessment."

"Conferring ceremonies are one of the highlights of the College year and the Faculty and staff in RCSI take great satisfaction and pride in all our candidates success. I hope that all our candidates being conferring today derive satisfaction, challenge and educational stimulation throughout their careers," Mr Magee continued.
