Pharmacists and physiotherapists from the Class of 2021 graduated from RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences today, at an in-person conferring ceremony that was previously postponed due to COVID-19.

The Primary Health Professions Degree Conferring Ceremony, held at the RCSI campus on St Stephen’s Green, saw the graduation of 56 candidates from the full-time undergraduate programme of Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Pharmacy and 33 from the BSc in Physiotherapy. There were 36 graduates from RCSI’s Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) programme.

Addressing the graduands, RCSI President Professor Laura Viani said: “Today’s ceremony recognises your commitment, dedication and hard work. It is an important milestone in your career; that all of this was achieved during a global pandemic makes today all the more special.

“All RCSI graduates share a common goal: to improve human health. The legacy of healthcare innovations by our alumni over our 238-year history illustrates how each and every one of you has the potential to shape the delivery of excellence in patient care. This is a great responsibility but also a privilege.”

Congratulating all those graduating on their success, RCSI Vice Chancellor and Registrar Professor Cathal Kelly, said: “We are delighted to be able to gather in person once again and share our graduates’ joy on this momentous day, and we look forward to celebrating their academic and professional successes long into the future.

“This group will always be remembered as part of RCSI’s graduate community who faced adversity and challenge to continue and complete your studies during a global pandemic. Your hard work and resilience will be long-remembered.”
