A new digital platform providing online learning for healthcare professionals has been launched by RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Aimed at healthcare professionals who want to improve patient care and elevate their careers while also balancing professional and personal schedules, the RCSI Online programmes have been designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to advance their careers, in an accessible and flexible format.

The digital-only offering from RCSI Online includes postgraduate courses in Clinical Leadership, Leading Digital Health Transformation, and Wound Management and Tissue Viability. Courses are available to students anywhere in the world, allowing them to access content at a time and pace they choose, through RCSI’s award-winning Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Informed by the current needs of healthcare systems, patients and teams, RCSI Online is available to individuals, as well as organisations dedicated to enhancing their staff’s professional development. The courses, designed and led by academic and sectoral experts, are digitally optimised to provide a seamless learning experience for healthcare professionals that minimises disruption to healthcare workforces and provision.

RCSI is experienced in the provision of digital learning, having made innovative use of online education and simulation to enable students to successfully graduate and enter the healthcare workforce during COVID-19 restrictions. With campuses in five locations around the world and the largest, most international medical school in Ireland, RCSI also provides a unique insight into opportunities and challenges facing international healthcare systems.

Speaking about the new platform, Sara McDonnell, Executive Director of the RCSI Graduate School of Healthcare Management, said: “We know that healthcare practice requires a lifelong commitment to learning and that this can be challenging for healthcare professionals with busy personal and professional lives. In these challenging times, healthcare professionals want and expect high-quality postgraduate healthcare education opportunities to be available when and where it suits them. RCSI Online has been developed to address this need.”

Founded in 1784, RCSI is one of the most innovative and student-focused health sciences universities and professional education institutes in the world. The launch of RCSI Online marks an acceleration of the University’s mission to ‘lead the world to better health’.
