Since you enrolled in RCSI, the College has been part of your life story. Now you can become an enduring part of the life and history of RCSI by naming a seat in the Desmond Auditorium.
We've saved you a seat, now put your name on it
Located in 26 York Street, The Desmond Auditorium is where much of the teaching and learning takes place on the RCSI campus. This is where dreams of a future in healthcare take shape and where students transform into the leaders of tomorrow.
For a gift of €/$/£500 an engraved plaque will be mounted above your seat in the auditorium. You may choose to name a seat for yourself or in honour of someone dear to you.

How to reserve your seat
To reserve your seat please log into the RCSI Portal, navigate to the donate section and select 'Desmond Auditorium – Save Your Seat', then add the amount of €/$/£500 and click 'Submit'.
You will receive an email within 48 hours with a form to complete your plaque inscription.

- Eligibility: The seat naming campaign is open to alumni, donors, and friends of RCSI who make the designated contribution.
- Donation amount: Seat naming rights are granted in recognition of a minimum donation of €500.
- Seat location: Plaque location within the Desmond Auditorium will be determined by RCSI and is subject to availability.
- Plaque details: Each named seat will feature a plaque measuring 100mm x 50mm with two lines of text (each plaque is limited to one name):
– Line 1: Name of the donor or honouree.
– Line 2: Class year/ significant date - Text approval: All text submitted for plaques must be approved by RCSI to ensure alignment with institutional standards and appropriateness.
- Placement: Plaques will be installed above the seat, and placement will be determined by RCSI.
- Seat allocation: Naming a seat does not confer ownership or reserved seating rights for events. The named seat remains part of the general seating arrangement in the Desmond Auditorium in 26 York Street.
- Visiting: If you wish to visit your seat to view your plaque, you must first contact the Development and Alumni Relations Office.
- Duration: Plaques will remain in place for a period of 10 years from the year of installation.
- Changes to the venue: In the event of renovations, relocation, or reconfiguration of the Desmond Auditorium, RCSI will make reasonable efforts to preserve the plaques and honour naming commitments.
- Payment terms: Full payment of the donation must be received before the plaque is installed.
- Monthly payments: Monthly payments are available at €50 per month for ten months. It is the responsibility of the donor to cancel the recurring payment after the tenth payment should they wish to do so. If the donor wishes to continue to give a monthly gift to RCSI this will be directed to Student
- Programmes: Scholarships, Clinical Elective Grants, Student Hardship and Research Summer School.
- Refund policy: Donations for the seat naming campaign are non-refundable.
- Recognition: By participating, donors agree to be recognised by RCSI in marketing materials and donor communications unless anonymity is requested in writing.
- Contact information: It is the responsibility of the donor to inform RCSI of any changes to their contact information to facilitate future communications.
- Amendments: RCSI reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of the seat naming campaign at any time. Participants will be notified of significant changes.
- Force majeure: RCSI is not responsible for delays or inability to fulfil seat naming obligations due to circumstances beyond its control.
- Agreement: Participation in the campaign constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Please note
If two or more individuals wish to name a seat in honour of the same person, RCSI will accommodate both requests by allocating separate seats, each with its own personalised plaque bearing the honouree's name. This ensures that all donors can celebrate their connection to the honouree while preserving the integrity and exclusivity of each named seat.
