Fostering a culture of student engagement and partnership

  • Education

RCSI places student engagement and partnership as core strategic enablers in achieving our mission and vision.

A strong working relationship between our students and staff is crucial in terms of personal and professional development and for the growth of the University as a whole.

Through active student engagement, we nurture, promote and implement a culture of partnership and inclusivity where students and staff work together to drive positive change. Our students regularly engage in initiatives which help them to flourish as global citizens. We are extremely proud of their continuous acts of kindness in local, national and international communities. You can read more about our work in this area in our Student Engagement and Partnership Agreement.

We are continuously seeking ways to further our humanitarian goals and support the efforts of our students who volunteer their time and skills on a continued basis.

Their work is recognised annually through an innovative International Citizenship Programme, which aims to encourage students to develop the skills, values and attitudes needed to effectively work in a culturally diverse healthcare environment.

We are committed to widening access and to the creation of a socially inclusive learning environment. The recent appointment of a Deputy Dean for Student Engagement highlights the strategic importance of each student’s contribution to community life and academic decision-making. Additionally, the role of ‘student engagement champion’ will further drive student engagement across all campus activities and touch points in the student journey.

We have also challenged ourselves to achieve an ASPIRE award from the Association for Medical Education in Europe to enrich our student experience.

RCSI is committed to achieving a better and more sustainable future through the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
