Dr Amer Ahmad Sharif is the Vice Chancellor of the newly established medical university in Dubai, the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU). MBRU aspires to set change in the landscape of healthcare in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through an innovative and integrated academic health system that is nationally responsive and globally connected, serving individuals and communities.
He has more than 15 years of experience in the UAE health system and his research has focused on the challenges and reforms within the UAE health system and future directions.
He is also a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Research in Medical Education & Health Care, Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University .
He has a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. He obtained his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Healthcare Management from RCSI and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University.
