What is unique about this course?
It’s quite simple: nobody, at least to my knowledge and at least in my country of Italy, seriously deals with the topic of human factors in healthcare.
What was it like to study this course at a distance?
It was definitely the best solution for a full-time worker and the father of two daughters: the use of communication platforms like Moodle was a nice solution. It was also a nice opportunity to meet people from all over the world, like the United States and Australia.
How has this programme enhanced your career?
I recently received a job proposal from the safety officer of my hospital, and in June I organised the first human factors meeting in my region. I'm now part of a multidisciplinary team made up of an aviation pilot, a sociologist and a cognitive psychologist working on an experimental project to implement the human factors approach in our hospital.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about doing this course?
This master's will help you to see your job, weather you are a nurse or a physician, from a different perspective. The most important advice from someone who is interested in this topic: it’s not really a question of just job opportunities, it’s really something more.
