Regina Morais
My name is Dr Regina Morais. I am a surgical senior house officer and a current Master of Surgery by Module (MCh) student at RCSI.
Originally from Angola, I graduated in general medicine from Ukraine, where I began training in general surgery before relocating to Ireland to continue my surgical career. I have a strong interest in gastrointestinal and emergency general surgery, with a particular focus on acute care and core operative skills, and I am deeply committed to mentorship, medical education, and the delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centred surgical care.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching medical students and junior colleagues, which has further strengthened my motivation to pursue structured postgraduate training and to learn from experienced surgical mentors.
I chose RCSI for its international reputation in surgical education and its strong alignment with my values in clinical excellence, academic development, and patient-centred care. The MCh in Surgery has been a pivotal step in my professional development, providing academic structure alongside full-time clinical practice while strengthening my clinical reasoning, research skills, and understanding of evidence-based practice.
I would strongly recommend the programme to anyone considering a Master’s in Surgery, particularly those balancing clinical work with academic training. The blended online and in-person format offers excellent flexibility, and the modules are highly practical and relevant – ranging from medical devices and innovation to health ethics and law, with a strong emphasis on research methodology.
I have greatly valued the support of the programme coordinators and tutors, as well as the opportunity to learn alongside colleagues from diverse backgrounds, and RCSI continues to play a central role in shaping my development as an aspiring surgeon.
