Entry requirements

Applicants will be selected for admission to the undergraduate nursing programme on the basis of open competition using the following criteria:

  • Basic eligibility, i.e. achievement of minimum academic and English language entry requirements.
  • References and life experience, i.e. work / life balance, extracurricular activities, relevant work or voluntary experience, etc.
  • Performance at a structured interview.

The following requirements are the minimum standards for consideration for entry into the undergraduate nursing programme for the Academic Year 2018/2019. Please note that attainment of these grades does not guarantee acceptance to programme and admission to any stage is at the discretion of the RCSI Bahrain Admissions Committee.

Applicants whose first language is not English, or those who have not been educated entirely in a native English speaking country, must satisfy an English language proficiency requirement.

Upon successful completion of the online application form, the admissions team will schedule the applicant for an English examination at RCSI Bahrain. Additional information on this exam is available here.

If valid IELTS/TOEFL results are provided, they will be reviewed by the Admissions team to assess if the applicant is required to complete the entrance English examination.

Please note: English language qualifications are only valid for two years from the date of the test.

Applicants who have been educated entirely through an English-language curriculum in a native English speaking country and or those who have completed the following curricula will meet the English language requirement for entry into the undergraduate nursing programme.

IB Diploma Minimum score of 5 in Standard Level English.
(I)GCSE/GCE Minimum score of Grade C in English.
Irish Leaving Certificate Minimum score of Grade D in Ordinary Level English.

Please note: All applicants must have completed at least 12 years of schooling by the end of secondary school education.

Applicants will not be given exemptions from any part of the programme based on courses taken as part of a previous qualification.

Applicants applying from a curriculum not listed below will be considered for entry into the BSc in Nursing by the Admissions Committee on a case by case basis.
