Vision, Mission and Values

Vision

“Building on our heritage of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland which was founded in 1784, we will enhance health in Bahrain, the other GCC countries and beyond through endeavour, innovation and collaboration in education, research and service.”

Mission

Our mission statement reflects our focus on higher education in the healthcare field and our aspiration to deliver higher education to the highest international standards:

"The primary mission of RCSI Bahrain is to inspire, educate and train competent and caring graduates who are well prepared to enter specialty training programmes and assume leadership roles in their profession. We undertake these activities to internationally recognised standards of excellence in teaching and research for the benefit of the health of the nations.”

The mission statement takes into account the international context of healthcare education. In particular, RCSI has benchmarked our education philosophy, curriculum and assessment in medical education against the World Federation for Medical Education standards. RCSI has undergone two voluntary external appraisals, in 2005 and 2008, benchmarking against the WFME standards. RCSI Bahrain Medical School was similarly assessed in 2006 by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Medical Schools Deans’ committee
