Diabetes Mobile Unit Programme Awarded First Place as Best Bahraini Voluntary Project
The Diabetes Mobile Unit(DMU) was awarded First Place as Best Bahraini Voluntary Project during the closing ceremony of the 14th His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Cabinet Affairs Ministry and Honorary President of the Good Word Society, led the festivities of the ceremony, which was held to acknowledge the noble efforts of volunteers in Bahrain.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa presented the award to Her Excellency Dr Mariam al Hajeri, Vice President of Bahrain Diabetes Society and former Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, who thanked the University for its longstanding commitment and contribution.
Since its establishment in 2012, the Diabetes Mobile Unit programme, a partnership between RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, Bahrain Diabetes Society and the Rotary Club of Manama with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, enabled over 300 RCSI Bahrain students to engage over 10,000 children in educational activities about diabetes, supporting healthy lifestyle practices in the community.
