RCSI Bahrain Welcomes Pakistani Delegation to Discuss Joint Medical Education Initiatives

On Tuesday 8th of April, Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, together with Executive Committee Members, welcomed His Excellency Mr Saqib Rauf, Ambassador of Pakistan to Bahrain, and a distinguished delegation from the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), led by Professor Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, President of the College.
The delegation from CPSP, included Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Senior Vice President; Professor Muhammad Asghar Butt, Director General International Relations; Professor Muhammad Aamer Zaman Khan, Director General Medical Education; and Major General Mazhar Ishaq, Director International Relations, and presented an overview of CPSP.
The meeting commenced with opening remarks by Professor Otoom, followed by an overview of the University presented by Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Managing Director of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, and a presentation by Professor Stephen Atkin, Head of School of Postgraduate Studies and Research on research initiatives. Discussions focused on exploring joint research opportunities in postgraduate medical education, with specific consideration given to collaboration with King Edward Medical University and Aga Khan University, in addition to elective opportunities and potential certification pathways with CPSP.
Mr Fadi Ghosn, Head of Recognition, Careers and Alumni, highlighted the significant presence of Pakistani nationals at, with 44 students currently pursuing medical degrees and 40 alumni having graduated thus far.
This meeting underscores RCSI Medical University of Bahrain's commitment to international collaboration and the development of strategic partnerships to enhance medical education and research, ultimately expanding opportunities for students from both institutions.
