RCSI Bahrain and AGU Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) - Medical University of Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase collaboration in medical education, scientific research and training initiatives that support the healthcare sector in Bahrain and the region.
Signed by Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, and His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, the agreement provides a framework for joint research projects, academic exchange, shared conferences and workshops and the co-supervision of research papers. It also establishes an annual joint research fund of BHD 20,000 and outlines plans for a unified research database.
His Excellency Dr AlFuhaid underscored that this agreement aligns with the University's vision to strengthen its regional and international partnerships and expand the scope of collaboration in scientific research and advanced medical education. He remarked, "RCSI Medical University of Bahrain is a leading institution in health education, and this cooperation represents a significant qualitative addition for our students and academic staff."
Professor Otoom emphasised the importance of this strategic partnership, stating, "We are delighted to collaborate with the Arabian Gulf University, recognising its esteemed scientific reputation across the region. We eagerly anticipate bringing this partnership to fruition, as it is set to play a pivotal role in bolstering research excellence and firmly establishing Bahrain as a regional hub for clinical research."
A dedicated joint steering committee, composed of senior academic leaders from both institutions, will ensure effective implementation and strategic direction.
