On the occasion of Bahraini Doctors’ Day, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain extends its heartfelt appreciation to all doctors across the Kingdom of Bahrain for their steadfast dedication to advancing patient care and healthcare for the benefit of all communities.

Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, stated: “We recognise the pivotal role of Bahraini medical professionals in nurturing the next generation of doctors who will sustain the healthcare system. We commend the Supreme Council of Health, Ministry of Health, Primary Healthcare Centres, National Health Regulatory Authority and the Bahraini Board for their continued efforts to enhance the regulatory and training environments that empower Bahraini doctors to deliver healthcare aligned with international standards. We also acknowledge the important role played by the Bahrain Medical Society in empowering doctors and enhancing their professional and creative capabilities.”

As part of its mission, the University remains committed to training future medical leaders and advancing healthcare education through the contributions of its academic staff and alumni, who actively promote knowledge exchange, research and community service.

This year, the University acknowledges the valuable contributions made by its alumni community in Bahrain to the healthcare sector, including those who continue to give back to their alma mater by sharing their expertise and experience to train, advise and support the next generation of healthcare professionals in Bahrain and beyond.

Dr Abeer Khalaf (Class of 2011), Family Medicine Consultant and Lecturer in Family Medicine at the University, commented: “As an alumna, contributing to my university by integrating my clinical knowledge and expertise into students’ learning has been incredibly rewarding. It is equally fulfilling to witness the students’ growth as they progress on their journey toward becoming competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.”

Dr Reem Alsherooqi (Class of 2014), Clinical Educator in Medicine at the University, commented: “It gives me great pleasure to deliver pre-clinical and bedside teaching sessions, simulation training and long case teaching sessions to strengthen students’ knowledge, clinical reasoning and patient management skills. Knowing that they will become the next generation of doctors leading the development of healthcare and patient care in Bahrain and beyond is truly gratifying.”

Dr Khalifa Al Doseri (Class of 2016), Student Health Officer at the University, commented: “I am delighted to play a key role in supporting student wellbeing and fostering a supportive environment of encouragement and resilience. I believe it is important for medical students to build a healthy and professional mindset so they can enjoy a journey of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.”

On this special day, RCSI Medical University of Bahrain proudly joins the nation in honouring the dedication, professionalism, and compassion of all Bahraini doctors -past, present, and future- whose service continues to strengthen the Kingdom of Bahrain’s healthcare and education landscape.
