RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Hosts Teddy Bear Hospital Initiative to Support Children’s Healthcare Awareness
The Teddy Bear Hospital initiative welcomed children to the campus of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain for two engaging sessions, delivered in both Arabic and English. The event was organised by the Paediatric Society in collaboration with Community Engagement and Student Services, and in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the British School of Bahrain.
The initiative was designed to introduce children to the healthcare environment in a supportive and interactive way, helping to reduce anxiety associated with medical settings. Children participated in nine structured, hands-on stations exploring key healthcare themes, while parents attended CPR and first-aid awareness sessions. An arts and crafts station also formed part of the programme, where children created get-well-soon cards for hospital patients.
The event was highly successful, engaging 127 children and supported by approximately 90 student volunteers. Particular recognition is extended to the student lead, Mr Hassan Aseeri, Senior Teddy Bear Hospital Officer and Year 3 Nursing student, for his leadership and commitment, alongside the dedicated team of student volunteers who supported the participating children throughout the sessions.
RCSI Medical University of Bahrain extends its sincere thanks to members of the local community for their participation and collaboration, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing children’s care and community wellbeing.
