RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Explores Academic and Cultural Initiative with Renowned Archaeologist Dr Abdulaziz Ali Suwaileh
Professor Sameer Otoom, President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain, alongside Dr Amal Al-Qallaf, Head of the Language and Culture Unit, welcomed Dr Abdulaziz Ali Suwaileh, a distinguished scholar in archaeology dedicated to preserving the rich history and heritage of Bahrain and the wider region, during a meeting held at his office on campus.
During the meeting, Dr Abdulaziz Ali Suwaileh presented a copy of his latest publication, Dilmun: The Kingdom of Civilisation, which highlights Bahrain’s historical significance as a prominent cultural and trading hub in the ancient world. He also emphasised the vital role of historical research in preserving the Kingdom’s rich heritage, strengthening national identity and celebrating its enduring civilisational legacy.
The discussion explored opportunities for collaboration through guest lectures and workshops focused on the significance of the Dilmun civilisation, Bahraini history, and the Kingdom's cultural heritage. These initiatives would provide students and faculty with valuable opportunities to engage with leading scholarship while fostering a deeper appreciation of Bahrain's cultural identity.
The meeting also examined the intersection of healthcare and history, highlighting the value of interdisciplinary learning in enriching the academic experience. Through partnerships with national scholars and experts, RCSI Medical University of Bahrain continues to support initiatives that promote cultural awareness, strengthen national identity, and contribute to Bahrain's national development.
