Nursing and Midwifery Anniversary Conference

In 2026, the School of Nursing and Midwifery headed by Professor Kathryn Strachan proudly marks its 20th Anniversary, a milestone marked by the evolution of nursing education, clinical practice and research, as well as the fast development of healthcare services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Nursing and Midwifery 20th Anniversary Conference will take place in Bahrain on 31 March 2027.

As the School celebrates this anniversary with pride, its legacy is defined by impactful contributions to the nursing workforce, nursing clinical practice and policies, education and training, research and scholarship, and the Bahrain Vision 2030.

The theme of this year’s conference is:

“20 Years of Excellence and Innovation in Nursing Education: Celebrating the School of Nursing and Midwifery Legacy and Shaping the Future”.

Strengthening Nursing Practice and the Healthcare System

From inception, the School of Nursing and Midwifery has been founded on a clear mission to elevate the standards of nursing education and clinical training in Bahrain and to provide a sustainable career pathway for aspiring Bahraini talent.

For many students, nursing education at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain has provided a recognised qualification and a career pathway in healthcare and patient care, as well as community health, occupational health or higher education. With healthcare in constant demand, the School has contributed significantly to building a sustainable national workforce that aligns with Bahrain’s national healthcare priorities.

Nowadays, many nursing alumni have progressed into leadership roles, policy advisory positions, and academic appointments, where they influence decision-making and shape the future direction of healthcare in Bahrain.

Looking Ahead: Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future

The success of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain over the past 20 years has been built on strong partnerships with healthcare institutions, government bodies, regulatory authorities, and international collaborators. These stakeholders have been instrumental in supporting the delivery of academic programmes, shaping clinical training, and providing global engagement in relation to evolving healthcare needs.

We are proud that the 20th Anniversary of the School is a celebration of collective achievement, transformation, and legacy. Reflecting on two decades of progress, the conference will also focus on the future with purpose.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, shaped by global health challenges, technological innovation, and sustainability and climate health challenges, the School remains committed to fostering dialogue on the future of nursing education, clinical practice, research, innovation and leadership.
