Final year Medicine students celebrate at RCSI results day
390 medical students had their final results read aloud, live, at RCSI’s St Stephen's Green campus yesterday.
With students attending online and in person, this time-honoured ceremony marks the culmination of years of study, clinical placements, and assessments. For the Class of 2026, it confirms their transition from students to doctors at the beginning of their professional careers.
The results reading began with an address from Professor Arnold Hill, Dean of Medical Programmes at RCSI and Professor Gerry McElvaney, Head of the RCSI School of Medicine, who congratulated the class on their incredible work and achievement. The results were then read out to the Class of 2026 by Kenny Franks, Head of Examinations and Assessment at RCSI.
Professor Cathal Kelly, Vice Chancellor of RCSI, remarked: “Results day is a moment of immense pride for all of us at RCSI. I want to congratulate our final year medicine students on the determination and discipline that brought them to this point. You have earned this achievement through years of careful study and diligent practice”.
“We hope you carry the knowledge and values taught to you here at RCSI into your future practice and make a positive impact on the lives of those you care for”.
Results day is the first recognition of the class of 2026’s academic achievement, with their conferring ceremony taking place on 5 June.
