RCSI confers Fellowships and Memberships on over 850 healthcare professionals
RCSI welcomed 857 healthcare professionals into its global community of Fellows and Members at the July conferring ceremony, held at RCSI’s St Stephen's Green campus.
The newly conferred Fellows, Members and Diplomates join a worldwide network of more than 11,000 RCSI surgical Fellows and Members across 90 countries.
Awards conferred included Fellowship and Memberships of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland; Vhi Fellowship in Urgent Care Medicine; Fellowships of the Faculty of Radiologists and Radiation Oncologists; Fellowships and Memberships of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine; and Fellowships, Memberships and Diplomas of the Faculty of Dentistry.
Addressing the candidates, RCSI President Professor Michael Kerin said: “Across its 242-year history, RCSI has built a distinguished global reputation through the contributions of its Fellows, Members and Diplomates. Through excellence in practice, innovation and service, they have advanced healthcare and improved lives worldwide. You now join this proud tradition, with the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on individuals, communities and society at large. In an increasingly complex and evolving world, your role has never been more important.”
The ceremony also featured a guest address by Professor Barry McGuire, Consultant Urological Surgeon and Professor of Postgraduate Surgical Education and Academic Development at RCSI, who spoke on ‘The Future of Surgery’. Exploring advances in robotics and other emerging technologies, Professor McGuire reflected on how innovation is transforming surgical practice, training and patient care.
