Upper GI Emergency Management

Suitable for: Senior registrars in upper GI surgery and general surgery, who have experience in performing endoscopy and laparoscopy procedures

This is RCSI's first advanced upper gastrointestinal (GI) emergency management course for experienced senior registrars. This interactive workshop will start with discussing the management of the unstable patient for both variceal and non-variceal bleeds.

In this course, experts will focus on the management of a perforated duodenal ulcer with both open and laparoscopic approaches. Practicals will include laparoscopic omental patch for perforated duodenal ulcer, an antrectomy and gastrojejunostomy. Hands-on practice will be aided by virtual reality simulators and animal bench models in a wet lab facility.
