Takeda Ireland Advanced Therapeutic Technologies Scholarship

The Takeda Ireland Advanced Therapeutic Technologies Scholarship is a new scholarship available to students enrolling in the BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies degree programme at RCSI from September 2024. The BSc degree in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies is designed to develop the next generation of scientists who will innovate and collaborate to create breakthrough medical therapies and technologies. 

This scholarship is intended for students who are completing/completed the Irish Leaving Certificate, who excel academically and are passionate about a lifelong career in science. 
This scholarship will be offered to a student who is Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) eligible. In addition to the normal supports provided through the Government Free Fees Initiative and SUSI Grant, this scholarship will offer additional financial support of €25,000 in total, over the four-year duration of the BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies programme. 

The objective of the scholarship is to support an undergraduate student to realise their full potential by lessening the financial burden of attending university and therefore allowing the student to fully focus on their academic coursework. 

About the scholarship

The Takeda Ireland Advanced Therapeutic Technologies Scholarship is offered at RCSI in partnership with Takeda Ireland, which has a strong commitment to innovation within the Irish health and pharmaceutical landscape. The BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies curriculum represents a paradigm shift in university science education, by fusing traditional science with digital technology and embedding “power skills” relevant to workplace success. This innovative future-focused programme has been developed in collaboration with industry experts to address knowledge and skills gaps in the pharmaceutical and (bio) pharmaceutical industries. 

All Takeda Ireland Advanced Therapeutic Technologies applicants must:

  • Be eligible for admission to RCSI's BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies programme through the CAO (course code: RC006).
  • Be eligible and apply for HEAR, and indicate in their CAO application that they wish to apply via the HEAR scheme.
  • Submit a CAO application listing BSc Advanced Therapeutic Technologies (RC006) as a course choice.
  • Have resided in Ireland for at least three of the last five years preceding admission.
  • Applicants must present a minimum of six subjects [1 x H4, 1 x H5 and 4 x O6/H7] in the Irish Leaving Certificate to include Irish (unless exempt), English, Mathematics, a third language, a laboratory science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics/Chemistry or Agricultural Science) and one other recognised subject. Applicants must present a minimum grade of H4 in Mathematics, a H5 in another subject and a minimum of O6/H7 in the remaining four subjects.
  • Complete the online Takeda Ireland Advanced Therapeutic Technologies Application Form by the closing date of 1 July. Early application is encouraged.
  • Provide a personal statement as part of your application, including your motivation and commitment to study advanced therapeutic technologies and pursue a career as a healthcare professional.
  • Arrange for a confidential academic referee to complete the Takeda Ireland Advanced Therapeutic Technologies Scholarship Confidential Academic Reference Form in advance of the closing date of 1 July.
