Programme details

The BSc (Hons) Nursing - Bridging programme is provided over 18 months/three semesters (part-time), and is designed for registered, practicing nurses who have already obtained a diploma in nursing. The BSc Bridging programme includes 6 modules: health promotion, nursing theory, research methods, leadership and legal and ethical issues. The programme embraces clinical nursing and patient care and is ideally positioned to prepare nurses for post graduate studies. The BSc (Hons) Nursing Bridging programme has also been delivered at Johns Hopkins Aramco Health Care in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


Graduates will be awarded a BSc (Hons) Nursing degree from RCSI Bahrain and the National University of Ireland (NUI).

Curriculum aims

BSc (Hons) Nursing (Bridging) students will be equipped with the necessary skills to be able to:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion strategies, taking into account the factors that determine and influence health
  • Integrate nursing theories and principles into competent nursing practice
  • Analyse research findings and evidence to improve the quality of patient care
  • Apply skills of clinical health assessment in various health care settings
  • Assess the role of the nurse and related challenges in the delivery of healthcare, in order to position themselves as a leader in the organisation
  • Practice in a professional manner within a legislative and ethical framework
