Announcing new President for RCSI and UCD Malaysia Campus

Professor Karen Morgan joins RCSI and UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC) as President in September 2023. She will move to RUMC from the position of Director, Perdana University Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland School of Medicine (PU-RCSI) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Professor Morgan graduated from UCD with a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Social and Organisational Psychology before joining Accenture as a change management consultant. She later worked as a project manager at RCSI and was awarded a PhD in Health Psychology (RCSI) in 2008.

Professor Morgan is a former President and Fellow of the European Health Psychology Society. Her research interests include ageing, quality of life and mental health. She is Co-Editor of the journal, Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine, holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Newcastle University, and has over 20 years of experience in health professions education and institutional quality assurance.

She has been an external advisor for undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes at Sunway University Malaysia since 2018 and from 2017-2022 she chaired the International Undergraduate Award Committee for Psychology.

Speaking on Professor Morgan’s appointment, Professor Cathal Kelly, Vice Chancellor/CEO RCSI, said: "I am delighted that Professor Morgan is taking up the position of President at RUMC. Professor Morgan’s leadership in PU-RCSI has been outstanding and her vast expertise in medical education and the Malaysian education system is truly impressive.
