RCSI has been awarded the Smarter Travel Mark at silver level, recognising the university’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable travel among its staff, students and wider community.

The Smarter Travel Mark recognises organisations that are taking meaningful steps to change attitudes and behaviours around walking, cycling and public transport, while implementing measures that make sustainable travel options more accessible and attractive.

Achieving the silver-level Mark reflects RCSI’s commitment to supporting environmentally responsible travel and reducing the environmental impact associated with journeys to and from campus. It also forms part of the university’s wider approach to sustainability and its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

From our campus operations and research to education and community engagement, we are focused on taking practical action that contributes to a healthier and more sustainable future.

Encouraging more sustainable ways of travelling is not only good for our environment, but also contributes to healthier communities and supports our wider ambition to deliver positive and lasting impact.”

RCSI will continue to build on this achievement by implementing further smarter travel initiatives and supporting staff, students and visitors to choose more sustainable modes of transport.
