Core Competencies in Plastic Surgery

Summary

The Core Competencies in Plastic Surgery course will provide you with basic concepts of plastic surgery and equip you with the basic skills needed for a non-consultant hospital doctor (NCHD) who is recommencing an NCHD post in plastic surgery.

Suitable for: SHOs and registrars.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand the principles of plastic surgery and the reconstructive ladder.
  • Develop proficiency in the clinical management of local anaesthesia, burns, soft tissue injuries, tendon injuries and bone injuries.
  • Understand the surgical principles and techniques of escharotomies, tendon repair, bone fixation and dressing/cast application.
