The Accredited Laparoscopy Certificate is a two-day course that combines didactic lectures with high-fidelity simulation to develop laparoscopic skills.
Day one focuses on the safe setup and operation of laparoscopic equipment, basic instrument handling, safe camera port insertion, and an introduction to laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Day two builds on these foundations with basic and advanced intracorporeal suturing, laparoscopic repair of a perforated peptic ulcer, and laparoscopic small bowel anastomosis.

Learning outcomes
Describe the principles, indications, and limitations of laparoscopic surgery.
Identify laparoscopic equipment and demonstrate its correct setup, safe operation and troubleshooting.
Apply ergonomic principles, appropriate operating room positioning and safe handling of laparoscopic instruments.
Develop hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and ambidexterity using laparoscopic simulation trainers.
Perform basic laparoscopic skills, including object transfer, precision cutting, clip application, knot-tying, suturing and simulated procedural tasks.
Demonstrate adherence to patient safety principles, appropriate tissue handling and best practice in minimally invasive surgery.
