Summary
This course has been designed to equip the general surgeon with the vascular skills needed for everyday emergency vascular presentations.
The principles of haemostasis and products used will be discussed. Mechanical methods of arresting bleeding such as safe clamping, tourniquet application and shunting will be demonstrated.
Facilitated by experienced vascular consultants, participants will practice how to perform an embolectomy and an arteriotomy repair. Vascular skills such as vascular anastomosis and the application of a vein patch will also be taught with formative feedback.
In this practical course we will use a combination of synthetic and animal tissue (bovine/porcine).
Suitable for: General surgeons all levels; SHOs in vascular surgery and all surgical specialties.
