RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Proudly Receives Recognition from Muharraq Governorate and Reaffirms Its Commitment to Sustainable National Partnership
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain has expressed its pride in receiving recognition from His Excellency Mr Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai, Governor of Muharraq Governorate, in appreciation of the University’s continued national contributions. The recognition coincides with the “Year of Isa Al Kabeer”, which embodies enduring values of nation-building, loyalty and sustainable institutional endeavour.
This honour reflects acknowledgement of the University’s strategic role in supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s development priorities and consolidating its position as a health sciences academic institution that actively contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of the national healthcare sector. These efforts are undertaken under the esteemed support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
RCSI Medical University of Bahrain adopts an institutional approach centred on the development of Bahraini human capital. Approximately 51% of its workforce comprises Bahraini nationals, reflecting its firm commitment to Bahrainisation policies and to empowering national talent across academic, administrative and research domains. The University also provides nationally supported scholarship pathways for Bahraini students, thereby contributing to the sustainability of medical and nursing capacity within the Kingdom of Bahrain and strengthening the healthcare sector by training students to the highest international standards.
Through its clinical training programmes and internship programme, delivered in partnership with healthcare institutions across the Kingdom of Bahrain, the University prepares graduates who demonstrate both professional competence and practical readiness to enter the healthcare workforce. In doing so, it enhances the quality of healthcare services and supports the long-term sustainability of the national healthcare system.
The establishment of a research centre at the Bahrain Oncology Centre marks a significant step towards advancing applied scientific research and strengthening integration between academic education and clinical practice. This initiative contributes to the development of innovative solutions to national priority health challenges.
The University continues to expand its societal impact through community engagement initiatives, including charitable partnerships and student volunteer programmes conducted in collaboration with the
Bahrain Red Crescent Society. These efforts foster a culture of service and social responsibility among students while reinforcing the University’s connection to the national community.
On this occasion, the University commended the ongoing efforts of His Excellency the Governor and Muharraq Governorate in supporting community and development initiatives and in fostering collaboration between educational institutions and government entities, thereby contributing to balanced and sustainable development at both governorate and national levels.
