Flourishing – A Well-being Programme for Nurses and Midwives

Summary

The aim of this evidence based CPD is to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding of the factors influencing wellbeing in nurses and midwives, in their everyday lives including the healthcare environment.

The programme is a 12-week online programme. It consists of a wide range of evidence-based topics to improve participants understanding of the personal and professional factors that influence well-being.

All 12 topics are based on the latest available evidence, are delivered by subject experts and presented in succinct and engaging formats. The programme will support participants to understand and make sustained lifestyle changes to improve their wellbeing. Participants will receive access to a range of resources produced by subject experts and a certificate of completion.

Subject experts come from multidisciplinary perspectives including nursing, midwifery, psychology, psychotherapy, nutrition, physical activity, occupational health and digital health/literacy.

This programme is a self-paced and online.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this CPD programme learners will be able to:

  • Understand the role of personal factors such as sleep, physical activity, nutrition, social media usage, leisure time, stress, nature and creativity on well-being.
  • Understand the role of professional factors such as - communication, compassion, collegiality, leadership, stress, trauma, shift work on well-being.
  • Implement practical tips for improving own mental health and well-being such as managing their inner critical voice and procrastination.
  • Devise a plan for creating sustainable habits and routines.
  • Formulate personal goals, raise self-awareness and identify the skills or resources required to achieve them and recognise when and how to seek help if needed.
