  • Time: 18:30 - 20:00
  • Category: Community,  General events

Arthritis often begins with pains or stiffness in the joints, such as in the knees, hips and hands, and is the most common cause of disability in Ireland. However, there are many myths surrounding arthritis, such as arthritis only affects older people and surgery is inevitable.

In this public MyHealth Lecture at RCSI, we will explain what arthritis is and how it can be managed, and along the way, dispel some of these myths around this very common condition. We will explain the key differences between osteoarthritis and less common forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis. We will provide practical advice on how to keep your joints healthy, along with current and exciting future treatments that are being researched at RCSI.

The panel members include experts from physiotherapy, rheumatology, orthopaedic surgery and bio-engineering.
