RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, in association with the EMASWH consortium, invites you to attend Building on the Past to Educate for the Future: Advancing the Contribution of Social Workers in Health Services – a landmark symposium that aims to highlight the extensive contribution of professional social workers in healthcare services, and the future advanced practice education needs within this sector.

Speakers on the day will showcase the important contribution that social workers make to addressing the social determinants of health and the spectrum of work that social workers carry out across hospital, primary care, mental health, disability, oncology, gerontology, advocacy, voluntary sector organisations, bereavement support and many other domains of the healthcare system.

The symposium offers an opportunity to hear from leading experts in the field of health-related social work, educators, regulatory representatives and policy makers.

This symposium is free of charge and anyone interested to attend may register to attend in person or online – booking is essential – and will take place on 27 November 2025, Training Room 3, RCSI, 123 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2.

About the consortium

The Erasmus Mundus Advanced Social Work in Healthcare Consortium is working to advance the provision of advanced education for qualified social workers working or interested in the field of healthcare.

The consortium is made up of expert representatives from the following institutions:

  • University of Valentia, Spain
  • Robert Gordon University, Scotland.
  • RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ireland.
