Open Disclosure Practical Training for Doctors

Summary

The HSE launched the policy of Open Disclosure (OD) in November 2013. In this policy, it is evident that doctors should support an open, timely and consistent approach to communicating with service users and their families when things go wrong in healthcare.

This workshop explains the principles of OD and demonstrates the skills necessary to achieve OD with patients and their families when an adverse event occurs.

This course is suitable for SHOs and registrars in all surgical specialties and emergency medicine doctors.
