RCSI MyHealth – A Toolkit for Winter Readiness

  • Date: 13 October 2020
  • Time: 18:30 - 20:00
  • Category: Community,  General events
  • Location: Online

Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, and following public health advice from the Irish Government, the RCSI MyHealth Series 2020/2021 will take place online only.

As a health sciences institution, we want to do our part in containing the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our communities and all those working in healthcare. We at RCSI are committed to continuing public healthcare education and we are confident that the virtual RCSI MyHealth Series will prove highly informative.

A Toolkit for Winter Readiness

This year, the usual winter illnesses and the topic of influenza season will be at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Should we expect to see very little flu this winter, or will it be a severe flu season with surges in COVID-19 cases? How will this compound the stresses of COVID-19? How can we best protect ourselves from getting the winter flu this year? The panel will address these genuine concerns and discuss how best to prepare for the winter ahead to avoid getting sick.

This panel discussion will be chaired by Professor Ciaran O’Boyle, Director of the RCSI Centre for Positive Psychology and Health.

Register your interest for this event now – a link to the lecture will be shared in advance.

Panelists include:

  • Dr Fidelma Fitzpatrick, Senior Lecturer and Consultant Microbiologist at RCSI and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin
  • Prof. Hilary Humphreys, Professor of Clinical Microbiology at RCSI and Consultant Microbiologist, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin
  • Prof. Sam McConkey, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of International Health and Tropical Medicine at RCSI, Consultant in Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin
