Do you want to become a patient-focused pharmacist and an expert in medicines and their safe and effective use across the healthcare system? If so, RCSI’s innovative five-year MPharm degree is the programme for you.

Pharmacists in Ireland can now prescribe for a range of common conditions which sets the profession on an exciting path towards other expanded roles.

RCSI’s Pharmacy programme has always been future-focused and it prepares our students for these advanced roles with elements of prescribing already incorporated into the curriculum ensuring RCSI graduates will be future-ready pharmacists and the most-prepared for this new and exciting pharmacy landscape.

RCSI will host a pharmacy-specific in-person open day on Saturday, 17 October 2026 from 12–3pm for September 2027 CAO applications.

During the event, prospective pharmacy students and their parents/guardians and teachers will have the opportunity to meet with senior faculty and current students who will provide an overview and an insight into their experience of this degree programme, along with admission requirement essentials, RCSI’s world-class facilities, student life and the career supports available to RCSI students.

They will also be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the course.

On the day, prospective students will have the opportunity to:

• Learn about the eight key areas covered in the MPharm programme including chemistry, life sciences, prescribing, professionalism, pharmaceutics, pharmacy practice, mental health/mental health first aid and research skills.
• Hear about the day-to-day duties of a community pharmacist and a hospital pharmacist, along with various other career pathways including in industry and regulation.
• Hear from our expert lecturers about our system-based approach. We look at 10 different health systems, including cardiovascular health, respiratory health, musculoskeletal and haematological health, central nervous system, endocrine system, sex, gender and health, immunology and protective structures, liver and kidney, cancer care and stage of life.
• Listen to our current students’ stories and experiences of the course and ask any relevant questions.
• Learn key information about the Pharmacy degree and the admissions process.
• Participate in practical workshops and laboratory demonstrations, specially designed for this open event, to sample a flavour of what life as an RCSI Pharmacy student will be like.
• Get answers from relevant staff to any specific questions you may have about the degree.
