Entry requirements
To be eligible for the PhD by Prior Publication, you must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Have been actively engaged in medical or health sciences research for at least five years within the last 10 years at an organisation with a recognised research function.
- Have published a minimum of five original data based research papers, all in Q1 journals in their relevant fields, all published within the 10 years prior to application and be the senior author (first or last author) on all five papers (work 'in preparation' will not be considered; papers must be published or in press. Narrative reviews and case reports are not accepted).
In addition, you must hold one of the following roles or affiliations:
- Research active member of RCSI staff (any campus)
- RCSI Honorary appointee
- Member of staff from a StAR MD partner hospital
- RCSI surgical trainee or trainer
- RCSI alumnus, Member or Fellow
- Staff member at a university or healthcare institution with an RCSI Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Industry collaborator who has co-authored publications with RCSI staff
- Member of an international research network established with RCSI and supported by a successful collaborative research grant > €100,000
- Faculty member from one of the following RCSI faculties: Dentistry, Nursing and Midwifery, Radiologists and Radiation Oncologists, Sports and Exercise Medicine.
