Sorbonne University

In 2024, RCSI and Sorbonne University signed a research agreement in order to support and further develop collaborations between scientific researchers at both universities by undertaking a dual PhD programme in complementary areas of excellence.

The initiative was formally implemented in April 2025 when the first two PhD scholars enrolled on the programme. The programme will award up to 10 scholarships covering five intakes of two scholars of any nationality until 2029.

Each scholar carries out their structured PhD under the supervision of one RCSI supervisor and one SU supervisor, and spends a minimum of one third of their time working on their PhD in each location.

Scholars receive financial support either from SU or RCSI which covers their fees, scholar stipend, benefits, and project costs.

Applicants are required to have masters qualification to enrol in this programme.
