Kieran Ryan to join RCSI as Managing Director of Surgical Affairs

RCSI has announced the appointment of Kieran Ryan as the new Managing Director of Surgical Affairs. He will take up his new role in RCSI in August 2016.

Kieran moves to RCSI from his current position of Chief Executive Officer of the Irish College of General Practitioners, a post he has held since 2011. Prior to this Kieran worked with the RCSI Department of Surgical Affairs as Research Manager and then Associate Director.

Speaking on the appointment, Professor Cathal Kelly, Chief Executive/Registrar, RCSI said, "I am delighted to announce that Kieran Ryan will be re-joining RCSI as the new Managing Director of Surgical Affairs. He will bring with him a wealth of experience and his expertise across the many facets of the healthcare ecosystem will allow him to deliver the vision of the Surgical Affairs Department as well as the 2016-2020 Surgical Strategy that supports it."

Eunan Friel, who currently holds the post of Managing Director of Surgical Affairs at RCSI, will remain on the College's Senior Management Team (SMT), moving to a new role as SMT lead of a new merged unit, encompassing RCSI's new Health Outcomes Research Centre (HORC), the new RCSI Process Improvement Centre (PIC) and the RCSI Institute of Leadership.
