RCSI welcomes new Fellows and Members

RCSI conferred over 200 healthcare professionals yesterday, in a ceremony that took place in the College’s St Stephen’s Green campus.

In surgery, the awards conferred included Fellowship of RCSI (JSCFE; including Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and Ad Eundem, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Urology, and Vascular Surgery), Membership of RCSI (including ENT and Ophthalmology) and Diploma of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Those conferred join RCSI’s global professional network of over 11,000 surgical Fellows and Members delivering excellent surgical practice across 89 countries. 

Candidates were also conferred with Fellowships and Membership of the Faculties of Radiologists and Radiation Oncologists, Dentistry, Nursing and Midwifery, and Sports and Exercise Medicine, as well as diplomas in Primary Care Dentistry.

The new Fellows and Members were admitted by RCSI Vice President, Professor Deborah McNamara. Addressing the candidates, Professor McNamara said: “We watch with great pride the leadership shown by our graduates, our faculties, and our Members and Fellows in delivering and improving health services in Ireland and beyond. At some of the most difficult times, our country relies on you and on so many colleagues from around the world who have made Ireland their home.”

In a message to the candidates, RCSI President Professor Laura Viani said: “The legacy of healthcare innovations by our Fellows and Members over our 239-year history illustrates how each and every one of you has the potential to shape the delivery of excellence in patient care. This is a great responsibility and also a privilege. We hope you enjoy this celebration of your achievements, and we wish you every success in your future careers.”
