The 2nd Annual Professionalism Conference: 'Disclosure, Peer Support and the Second Victim' will take place in RCSI on Tuesday, 9 July 2019.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Jo Shapiro, Director of the Centre for Professionalism and Peer Support, Consultant Otolaryngologist, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA
  • Dr Gabriel Scally, Appointed to the Scoping Inquiry into the CervicalCheck Screening Programme 2018; President of the Epidemiology and Public Health section of the Royal Society of Medicine; Professor of Public Health at the University of the West of England (UWE) and the University of Bristol.
  • Professor Deirdre Madden, Professor of Law at UCC; Deputy Chair of the Board of the HSE; Chair of the Commission on Patient Safety and Quality Assurance
  • Professor Martin Corbally, Professor and Head of Department of Surgery, Chief of Staff at King Hamad University Hospital, Bahrain; Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and Programme Director of Operation Childlife.

Abstracts can be submitted until 30 June 2019.

Abstracts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.

Title: The abstract title should be in sentence case, not all capitals.

Authors: Authors names should be supplied in the surname-last format and should be in sentence case, not all capitals. Institutional affiliations should be indicated with superscript numbers following the author name. Maximum of 10 authors.

Affiliation: All affiliations should contain institution, city and country.

Abstract text (maximum of 250 words):

Sub-headings used must be:

  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion
  • References (maximum of three) References can be included in the abstract text or as a list following the abstract. Any references included in the reference list must be cited in the abstract text

Tables: Tables may be included with abstracts and must be cited in the abstract text. The abstracts themselves must be in text, not table format.

Figures: All figures should be cited in the text of the abstract.

Poster format for accepted posters:

  • Poster size: A0 size, portrait
  • Font: Times New Roman or Arial
  • Font size: 16pt (where possible)
