The RCSI Ed-i-Med symposium is aimed at national and international medicine and health professions educators, clinicians, scientists and administrators from higher education and healthcare institutions.

Keynote speakers

  • 'Using the language of ‘entrustment’ across the medical education continuum: new opportunities within the undergraduate curriculum to make the implicit explicit'
    Dr Josephine Boland is an independent educationalist specialising in the design and implementation of competency-based medical education. Her areas of professional practice and research have focused on curriculum development, assessment design, delivery of continuing professional development and the development and implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs).
  • 'Creating the Global Physician of the Future'
    Professor David Sklar is a Professor in the College of Health Solutions and Advisor to the Provost at Arizona State University and Editor in Chief of Academic Medicine. He is also Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean Emeritus at University of New Mexico where he was a Chair of Emergency Medicine, Associate Dean and DIO for Graduate Medical Education and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.
  • 'Planning for the unpredictable - Preparing students for future healthcare professional practice'
    Dr John Jenkins is RCSI’s Director of Transforming Healthcare Education Project (THEP) and Past President of the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME)
