118 St Stephen's Green

2025 saw another major campus milestone being reached with the completion of a new €95m education, research and engagement building at 118 St Stephen’s Green. This eight-story facility transforms our students’ experience of the RCSI Dublin campus and offers unique student and public spaces, small group teaching areas, common rooms, research laboratories and much more.

The 118 building is a new ‘front door’ for RCSI on St Stephen’s Green, providing a significant and flexible public and civic engagement space for events and exhibitions, in support of RCSI’s vision to ‘demonstrate and achieve international leadership in supporting healthcare professionals through high-quality education and research, to enable people to live long and healthy lives’.

The opening of 26 York Street saw a significant increase in students remaining on campus for study and extracurricular purposes, with data indicating 3,000 students and staff moving through No. 26 on a daily basis. A key design element of the 118 building is the linkage to 26 York Street and the opening up of the Ardilaun section of campus to students.

118 St Stephen’s Green allows for both innovation and the expansion of our education spaces. In terms of innovation, the building facilitates new concepts such as learning communities, small group teaching spaces as well as flexible flat floor teaching spaces.

As RCSI continues to invest in our StAR research programme and other major research initiatives, the 118 building will provide three floors of state-of-the-art laboratory, write-up and support facilities to support existing and new research programmes and activities.
