Radiology

The RCSI Academic Department of Radiology is based at the Radiology Department in Beaumont Hospital, an 820-bed tertiary referral centre, with 20 consultant radiologists and 14 specialist registrars in radiology, serving north Dublin. The department also has patient referral centres at Connolly Hospital BlanchardstownOur Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Cavan General Hospital.

Beaumont's Radiology Department provides patients with comprehensive sub-speciality expertise in both diagnostic and interventional radiology – including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology and neuroradiology. Other areas of expertise include genitourinary imaging (including renal transplant assessment), vascular interventional radiology and breast imaging.

The Department of Radiology provides the Undergraduate radiology teaching programme to RCSI students, which includes a dedicated lecture series on both diagnostic and interventional radiology in Senior Cycle and the opportunity to take part in clinical electives in the department.

The department also maintains active participation in research and academic publication, with research by departmental staff frequently presented at national and international meetings.
