I chose to study pharmacy as it was a healthcare course that still provided a vast array of careers you could branch off in to after you graduate. RCSI was also close to home and directly accessible by multiple public transport routes. I also chose to study in RCSI due to the structure of the pharmacy programme which provided fundamentals of all science disciplines before exploring the human body on a system-by-system basis, with modules in pharmaceutics and other pharmacy subject areas being co-delivered alongside them.

My favourite subject so far has to be pharmacognosy and phytochemistry lectures across all modules as it combines my interests of pharmacy and nature. Although quite science heavy, the lectures give a nice break from human biology and have allowed me to appreciate the beauty (and medical use) of the natural world around me.

My favourite memory from my time so far in RCSI has to be the 2nd Year Pharmacy placement as provided a nice break from the theory and allowed me to see pharmacy in a real-world setting, applying any knowledge gained thus far in the course.

In terms of my dream career, it's safe to say this answer will probably change in a week's time, but at the moment I would love to go down the research route of pharmacy, specifically relating to natural products. However, after completing the RCSI Research Summer School over the summer, I have also found a deep love and interest in the career of a clinical pharmacist and can definitely see myself going down that route too.
