I was part of the first class to graduate from RCSI’s new BSc in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies. While still in school, I knew I wanted to study a degree related to the pharmaceutical industry. When I heard about BSc Advanced Therapeutic Technologies (BScATT), it seemed exactly what I was looking for.

After completing my degree, I began a two-year graduate programme in manufacturing with Amgen in September. The programme consists of three eight-month rotations across different areas of manufacturing, giving me the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of roles and functions.

The eight-month work placement I completed in third year was a major differentiator when securing a role after graduation. During interviews, I was able to highlight the skills I developed at Nuritas, particularly in problem solving and teamwork. I also found the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) training to be one of the standout elements of the BScATT programme.

The workplace-relevant skills I gained throughout the four years of the degree, including manufacturing training and data analysis, as well as the continuous focus on teamwork and problem-solving assignments, played a significant role in helping me secure my current position.

As part of the first intake of students, I have been part of a very close-knit group. The experience has been incredibly rewarding and, at times, challenging. I found it to be a broad and versatile degree that opens up a wide range of opportunities for BScATT graduates.
